Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday January 9th, 2019

Escrow.com

So here is my domain portfolio from Feb of 2009.  The price to the right is what I paid for them.  I haven’t gone back to see which names I still have but unfortunately I still have quite a few of them.  One thing I noticed as I looked at it again is my blatant trademark infringing domains.  I was trying to make a little typo money and in hind site I was a squatter.  I learned pretty quickly and none of those are in my portfolio (pretty sure they aren’t).  Thankfully I didn’t get sued like so many domain investors did.  The other negative is what is not in my portfolio 10 years ago. So many great domains were available to buy back then yet I didn’t take advantage.  I just didn’t know what I was doing and this is the route I took.   Like I said in an earlier post, at least I didn’t lose money on my first batch of domain purchases. I sold enough of these to pay for all of them and the renewals and used that money to buy 20 NNNN.coms so it worked out fine.  That probably did well enough to make up for what I missed out on.  I also know that if I had bought really good names I would have sold them anyway because I was happy to make almost anything when I started.  $1000 moved the needle back then and should now but doesn’t as much as I’d like.   Take a look, critique all you want because its done and can’t change anything (except drop some names).  I know I still have HDDH, Koggy, Koosy, and Soosy but most are sold or dropped.   And if you want to go to DomainIQ and see what I have now you’ll see its getting better.  Of course it better after a decade of doing this.  And ignore the 6N and the dot nets at DomainIq.   Those are all pretty much gone now.

  1. I’m kind of confused here but are you confusing NNNN.com with LLLL.com or did the 20 NNNN.com’s come after these purchases? Those 20 NNNN.com alone would be high 6 figures today. I know you were early with the short names so the LLLL.com’s make sense but I don’t remember you ever mentioning buying NNNN.com.

      1. Thanks for the correction. I think part of the genius of the domain curmudgeon is that he had the conviction to hold onto his domains. But then again he had residual income from his adult domains so maybe not so genius.
