If you’ve read this column more than two times you know that I recently surpassed Michael Berkens for most typos and misspelled words in domain writing. It was a small award ceremony but a large trophy. Michael spoke, a few close friends attended. Once Michael retired and stopped writing it was just a matter of time before I typoed my way to the top.
Yesterday I got a nice email saying that I had quite a few typos in my writing. I cared a tiny bit yesterday because I was writing serious intro but in general I just don’t care. It could reflect my intelligence but I think whatever intelligence I have is going to be enough to finish off my life. I am fortunate that I will never have to interview for a job or have any position where I have to perform to get the role. I’ve done all that. My next role is nothing and philanthropy. Both of which don’t require any writing aptitude test.
“Don’t you take pride in your work?” I take pride in my thoughts and ideas. If they ever are put in front of a major audience then I’ll get an editor or use Grammerly. In all seriousness I do care. Just not enough to spend the extra 15 minutes checking over my writing. Until I do you better get ready for a shit ton of wrong words and they’re there and their issues.
Quote of the Day: An old man said, “Erasers are made for those who make mistakes.” Replied a youth, “Erasers are made for those willing to correct their mistakes.”
