I thought about taking the boat out yesterday, but then I remembered I never boat on Memorial day. I’m not being superstitious, but no one want’s to break down on the same day of the year twice and have to call 911 again.
If you don’t remember I had a fiasco on the water a few years ago. I think there’s a video on here somewhere. I couldn’t get the engine to start and it was getting late. I called the County Communications non emergency number, told them I just needed help getting off the water. I told them it wasn’t an emergency and figured they could contact someone to tow me.
They told me to call 911 so they could get my exact location. I called and they sent 4 rescue boats, 2 medic units, 2 engines a rescue squad and the police, all to tow me to shore. The local fire department in that area is volunteer, so I sent them a donation for their trouble.
